An urban installation connecting people across countries

The Door is an interactive urban installation, created for the Municipality of Helsingborg in Sweden as a part of the of the light festival Drömljus and as a creative way to connect with other people and places in the world.

A red door. Is someone knocking? Let your curiosity take over and open the door to an exciting parallel universe. Unexpectedly someone else opens a similar door somewhere in Sweden. A door that connects with this door! What happens next?

The installation consist of two interactive free standing red doors. When opening a door an alternative reality of possibilities in the visuals will appear on a screen, perhaps changing after time at the day, weather or movement tracking. Digital objects might appear on the screen - changing with the visitor’s body movements and sometimes THe Door serve as a portal into another world or switching to a live connection to people by the other red door. During Drömljus one door was located in Helsingborg and the other door was placed in Copenhagen successfully connecting Drömljus with Copenhagen Light Festival and people of Sweden and Denmark. The Door served to bring smiles to people’s lips during the cold Scandinavian winter, while also being a benchmark of the city's centre and a peephole between the two doors.
